Ms. Carrie Carter is the new Principal of May River High School beginning the 2026-27 school year. Ms. Carter is a familiar and respected leader within the May River community, having served as Assistant Principal since 2019. An accomplished educator with 18 years of experience in secondary education, Ms. Carter has dedicated 12 of those years to Beaufort County School District. During her tenure, she has served as Assistant Principal and Lead School Counselor at May River High School, as well as a School Counselor at Beaufort High School. Prior to this, she began her school counselling career at Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, SC. 

Ms. Carter holds School Administration Licensure Certification from Gardner-Webb University, a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling with School Licensure, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human and Community Services from Lenoir-Rhyne University.
